  • A Green Future

    The Meadoway

A new environmental initiative by the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority, in partnership with the City of Toronto and The W. Garfield Weston Foundation, will transform 16 km of the Gatineau Hydro Corridor (a provincial hydro line between the Bermondsey substation in Thorncliffe Park northeast to the city border in Rouge Park).  Known as The Meadoway, the project will convert the corridor’s manicured grass into a meadow habitat, and will include a multi-use path for cycling and walking. This trail will encompass four ravines, 15 parks, 35 neighbourhoods and more than 500 acres of land. It will support the local biodiversity of the area and provide residents of the Golden Mile a place to slow down and connect with nature and each other. Plans include a community gardens, public gathering spaces, and even an outdoor classroom.
