Privacy Policy

Heritage Toronto respects the personal privacy of our website visitors.

This policy applies to Heritage Toronto’s website only. We are not responsible in any way for the privacy practices of other websites, which may be linked to our site.

Personal information

Personal information is any information that can be used to identify or contact a specific individual. Exceptions to personal information include business contact information.

We may collect information in a non-identifying and aggregate form including IP addresses, date/time visited, referring website, length of stay, etc. These site statistics are used to identify system problems, and to enhance our website content and design.

Collection of personal information

We collect personal information only from our visitors and supporters who supply it voluntarily when using our website, i.e. contacting us via e-mail, subscribing to our e-newsletter, buying a ticket, making a donation.

Use of personal information

We use personal information to better serve our visitors and supporters. Individuals will be informed about the purposes for which their information will be used, including:

  • Communications on programs, memberships, and donations.
  • Communications to thank supporters and issue tax receipts.
  • Invitations to events.
  • To those suppliers or companies hired to deliver products or services, for example a shipping company that delivers a package.

If an individual requests that their personal information not be used for one of these purposes, or for any other purpose, that request will be honoured. The individual’s account will be updated accordingly.

We will not sell or rent your personal information.

Use of financial information

In some instances, for example online registration for our Heritage Toronto Awards, visitors may be asked to submit credit card information for payment. Credit card transactions are managed by the payment processing company IATS, which is PCI (payment card industry) compliant with the highest level of security currently available on the Internet.

Storage of personal information

Personal information is stored in our database and in hard copy files. Only authorized staff have access to this information.  Personal information that is no longer required to fulfill the stated purpose will be destroyed or made anonymous.
