Discover the “Toronto Special”, a walk-up apartment built from the 1960s to 1970s, common in areas like Earlscourt and Oakwood. Learn how this type of mid-sized apartment building provided modern and affordable housing for large families and immigrants, and how it was integrated into the post-war city in neighbourhoods otherwise reserved for single-family dwellings.
This Heritage Toronto tour runs rain or shine and lasts approximately 90 minutes. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and consider bringing sunscreen and water to make your tour as enjoyable as possible.
This tour uses individual audio headsets. All registered participants will be provided with an individual headset that will allow you to hear the live tour guide throughout the tour.
This tour is provided for $8.00/person. The total cost is $9.85 (includes a $1.85 transaction fee). Please note that space is limited on our tours. You may not be able to join a tour group if you have not registered ahead of time through our website (see below).

This tour is approximately 3.3 kilometres in distance and takes place predominantly on paved city sidewalks and streets. There are some unpaved portions of the route that take place in city parks.
Heritage Toronto tours take place outside. We ask for your help and patience in making the experience as safe as possible for everyone. All participants are welcome to wear a mask. Masks will be available upon request.
