Trace the development of Toronto’s Chinese community from its humble roots in The Ward, with its laundries, restaurants, and associations, long-since razed to the ground to make way for modern progress.
We’re excited to offer free tour experiences this season at community and special events. These meet-ups will happen at our tent. Say hello and check in for the day’s schedule of short and engaging walks featuring highlights of the local area’s heritage delivered by our emerging historians. See you there!
Join us at the Heritage Toronto tent to explore the development of Toronto’s Chinese community. This event will begin with a plaque unveiling (10am) commemorating the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act, followed by a one-hour tour (starting at 11am) of nearby sites associated with the Chinese community. Hear from local community voices about the impact of the Chinese Exclusion Act on this community.
This event is free and no pre-registration is required.
Note: Certain portions of the tours may include walking on uneven terrain. Due to ongoing construction in the area, tour accessibility may be affected. Please contact Heritage Toronto at 416-338-0684 or [email protected] for more information.
If you share our passion for accessible and inclusive heritage programming, we invite you to make a donation to help fund one of our next events. Volunteers at our tent will be equipped to accept both cash and contactless donations, and gifts of $20+ will receive a charitable tax receipt.
Meet us at the Heritage Toronto tent at the rooftop of Nathan Phillips Square.
We're celebrating 25 years of touring through the city with groups, learning some fun facts, little-known stories, and about the amazing people that have contributed to Toronto's heritage.
